Beautiful Venues for a Bermuda Destination Wedding

Are you dreaming of a tropical wedding with a British aura? Bermuda is the perfect destination for you. The British territory offers stunning pink sand beaches, lovely pink architecture, and even their signature shorts-and-knee-socks style that might make an appearance at your wedding. With high-end shopping, premium resorts, and delightful dining options, Bermuda offers the perfect wedding spot as part of a beach vacation with your loved ones.

Plan Your Bermuda Destination Wedding

To achieve the perfect combination of warm sunshine, serene beaches, and affordable prices, timing is everything for your Bermuda destination wedding. The island does not have a “rainy season,” and it is an excellent place to visit all year round – except for the fall season, where it might be affected by nearby hurricanes. The busy season is between May and October, during the warmest months of the year. If you prefer a less crowded beach wedding, March and April are perfect, with temperatures in the 70s. Do you prefer golfing? Visit during winter where temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s are perfect, and several hotels offer seasonal discounts.

Getting Married in Bermuda

If you plan to legalize your marriage in Bermuda, you need to prepare ahead. At least fifteen days before tying the knot, submit a Notice of Intended Marriage form. If you were previously divorced or widowed, supply the necessary documentation. You must make the payment using your credit or debit card, and this you can do online or via mail (so you won’t have to stay in Bermuda for two weeks before the wedding!). The marriage license is $353 currently, and after the ceremony, you’re required to pay $65 for the marriage certificate. After the fifteen-day waiting period, you’ll get your marriage license valid for three months, and you’ll need an officiant and two witnesses to make it legal. The Registrar oversees civil ceremonies, and additional fees apply. After the ceremony, the Officiant submits the Particulars of Marriage form to register the union, and couples receive the marriage certificate within ten days.

Same-sex marriages are now legal in Bermuda since June 6th, 2018. The British territory has had several court cases debating the legality and definition of same-sex marriages throughout 2017 and 2018. Hence, it is advisable to conduct thorough research before planning your wedding in Bermuda if you are a same-sex couple.
